Potential practitioner FAQs

How does working at CLINIC… work?

Practitioners at CLINIC run their own business from our offices, with support (some formal, some informal) from CLINIC and fellow practitioners. You pay rent, which covers the space and time you are using, as well as all utilities (including WiFi, garbage, and sharps disposal). CLINIC is responsible for basic furnishings and decorations, toilet paper, paper towels, and tea, etc., and cleaning, upkeep, repairs, and improvements to the space. CLINIC has a centralized website, socials, email, and phone (VOIP).

In addition to rent, what else will cost me money at CLINIC?

There are additional optional monthly fees for:

  • Laundry access: allowing you to do your practice’s laundry on-site.

  • Retail space: we charge a small additional fee if you are using space in our reception area to sell retail items.

  • Admin and marketing fee: allows you to use our scheduling software, with its integrated payment processing. Use of this allows for us to easily refer to you, and gives you assistance with scheduling and accounting. This fee also allows you to add your presence to our newsletter (circulation of 2000, high readership rate) and website.

What am I responsible for, as a practitioner at CLINIC?

Your rent covers most of your practice’s costs and most of the headaches! You are still responsible for your practice’s:

  • Liability insurance

  • Licensure, certification, continuing education

  • Professional society memberships, etc.

  • Insurance billing costs

  • Supplies particular to your practice (sheets, massage oils, acupuncture needles, laundry supplies, etc.)

You must communicate proactively and clearly with Jen. and any other relevant practitioners. You must not overstay your shifts without explicit authorization, and you must leave the room clean and ready for the next practitioner.

You must be considerate of others and come with an ‘abundant’ attitude, that a rising tide lifts all boats, and that clients’ needs come first!

What is the catch?

Nothing hidden or weird!

No non-compete agreement— your clients are your own.

You pay rent, and you are paid all the money from your clients (minus processing fees for credit cards, taken by the processor).

You must agree to HIPAA protections for all clients you encounter at CLINIC.

You must give 30 days’ notice of any changes that negatively impact CLINIC. If you leave within your first six months, CLINIC will eat your deposit to cover the start-up work incurred. Contracts are available upon request.

Though you will have no lease, you are expected to stay for at least six months. Lacking that, your deposit will be retroactively applied as a start-up fee.

What are the ancillary benefits of CLINIC practice?

The fellowship of other talented, client-centered practitioners who are also working on building their businesses. We love to hang out, to commiserate, to edit each other’s radio ads and posters, and to build each other up! We encourage trading with other practitioners here, both to receive treatments yourself as well as to make better-informed referrals to clients.

The most beautiful, centrally- but comfortably-located practice space. Street parking is almost always available right out front, and the Masonic Street lot is a block away. CLINIC is on the first floor (four steps up), with full ADA accessibility coming soon!

CLINIC has a membership to the Greater Northampton Chamber of Commerce, where Jen. sat for six years on the Board of Directors, and the Downtown Northampton Association, and you can take advantage of Chamber membership specifically for your practice as well.

How do I get started?

A handshake gets it going! Jen. will need a list of questions answered, as well as first and last months’ rent, in order to get the ball rolling. Jen. only needs two to three days to get you into our systems, under normal circumstances, though two weeks is preferred and up to six weeks is possible. Pro-rated rent is possible if you want to start right away.

Covid policies

We require that all practitioners be up-to-date on Covid vaccinations, and agree to abide by our Covid policies. The policies change, depending on the current state of the pandemic, but we plan to require masks in our common spaces for the forseeable future. In individual treatment rooms, you may remove them if all parties are comfortable with that.

We continue to clean appropriately, and wash hands diligently. We have HEPA filters and nebulizers with Vir Away essential oils in each room and the common spaces, and use fans and open windows strategically. We encourage and require cancellations if anyone feels ill and isn’t sure of their Covid status, and we ask those who are diagnosed after visiting CLINIC to let us know, so that we may contact trace and notify others who may have crossed paths with a sick person.
