Beck Rothberg (they), Licensed Social Worker
I am a clinically trained social worker with a trauma-informed and psychodynamic relational foundation, integrating approaches from narrative therapy, emotionally focused therapy (EFT), attachment theory, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), internal family systems (IFS), and EMDR. My work focuses on identifying the patterns and dynamics that shape how people view themselves, their emotions, and their relationships. I believe that how individuals face challenges shapes and is deeply shaped by how they perceive themselves and others, and that lots of meaningful change is possible within the stories we tell ourselves about ourselves and the world (even in light of the real, multifaceted and layered social and political/politicized stressors we all face). With collaboration, compassion, warmth, and practical skill-building, I help clients cultivate the flexibility and radical acceptance needed for meaningful change.
I received an MSW from Smith College School for Social Work, and have more than a decade of clinical experience, spanning outpatient, residential, and healthcare settings, working with individuals of all ages. I have specialized training in perinatal mental health, attachment theory, and trauma. At this time I primarily focus on supporting folks with:
relationship challenges (including romantic relationships of all structures, parenting, and family of origin relationships)
concerns in relationship with self (including identity related concerns, body image and self-loss with role transitions) that contributes to mood and anxiety concerns
trauma processing (including complex trauma, childhood trauma, infidelity trauma, and single-event traumas), and
issues related to family-building and other significant life transitions (including pregnancy, infertility, perinatal loss and abortion, caregiver issues, grief and loss, chronic health concerns and disability, and adjustment to parenthood)
Before becoming a therapist, I worked in health education and as the development director for a non-profit focusing on youth empowerment. Outside of therapy, I enjoy spending time with my preschooler, being in the woods, exploring new places, making things, drawing comics and listening to audiobooks.
I offer primarily telehealth sessions. To schedule a free 15-20 minute consultation, please contact me. I am in network with Blue Cross Blue Shield, Harvard Pilgrim, Tufts (commercial plans only), Aetna, Optum, Cigna, United, Mass General Brigham Health Plan, and some others - please feel free to reach out for more information. I also offer superbills and/ or support working with insurance for those wishing to use out of network benefits.
