Myk Freedman (he/ they), Tarot reader

Tarot for Healing

Myk’s (pronounced like 'Mike’) healing journey began in his teens after a fibromyalgia diagnosis led him–somewhat reluctantly–to yoga. The resistance didn’t last long. He soon discovered yoga’s transformative power, not only in his body but in his energy and outlook. In 2011, he became a certified yoga teacher and reiki practitioner. With a focus on social justice, he co-founded the Brooklyn Yoga Collective, a sliding scale studio with the mission of making yoga accessible to all bodies, all ages, and all income levels in the community, while providing a model for equitable teacher pay.

The door yoga opened led to a lifelong exploration of other healing practices: meditation, reiki, lucid dreaming, and music. These modalities now weave through both Myk’s personal practice, teaching, and professional work, alongside tarot.

After the birth of his first son, Myk felt an unexpected pull toward living a more magical life—and toward the tarot in particular. Following this intuition brought him back to a piece of family history.

His Romanian grandmother, who helped raise him, had learned to read cards as a teenager while imprisoned in a Soviet jail—accused of being a spy (but really just being a Jew in Eastern Europe). Among the many skills she learned while in jail was the art of reading the cards from a group of Romani women who looked after her until her eventual release. Myk grew up hearing the wild tales of her life, and now, through cards, humor, and storytelling, he feels a deep connection to her and the wisdom she shared with him over the years.

We’re often discouraged from operating outside the realm of logic, yet so much of life is mysterious—even under scrutiny. Tarot offers a way to explore that mystery. It invites curiosity, wonder, and play, while helping us listen more closely to our intuition.

A session with Myk is a collaborative experience between you, him, and the cards. Together, you’ll clarify your question, create a spread, and explore what emerges. The cards may reveal uncanny truths—or shift your perspective entirely. Myk reads them with clarity and care, inviting your thoughts, feelings, and somatic responses into the process. Even if it seems like chance, you’re invited to take the moment seriously. What if the insight is real? In that space, your own intuition has room to emerge, sharpen, and guide you forward.
