Zoom Out to Zoom In, Astrology is a Helpful Tool

By Rachel Condon, Licensed Acupuncturist and Astrologer

Do you feel like life is moving at an extra speedy pace lately?

We are fully in spring now, and charging towards summer…and can see breaks from school, work, and other usual routines, to soak up these longer days as much as we can. That’s how we roll here in this part of the world.

But in these strange times… it’s much harder to feel grounded.

I fell in love with astrology a few years ago because it helped me make sense of things. It offered another lens, a chance to zoom out and get a different perspective, and then to find some hope, and yes, even excitement, about these very wild times we are in.

So you may not be surprised when I tell you that the astrology of 2025 is BIG.  Like, for some of it, this hasn’t happened in thousands of years big.

Some of the big themes happening involve… revolutionary energy, challenging the status quo, power to the people, the breaking down of old power structures… sound familiar?

We are in a time of rapid and massive advances in technology, the speed and nature of communication changing, AI entering all sorts of areas, from aviation to medical procedures and many more. The need for discernment is higher than ever in our lifetimes.

We are also going to be witnessing and experiencing more spiritual awakenings and new understandings of consciousness - what it is, how it works, where it exists, and ultimately, who and what we are as human beings.  Wow, huh?

The paradigm is shifting.  This is what I find to be especially exciting. What does that mean, exactly?  One definition of a paradigm is a worldview underlying the theories and methodologies of a particular scientific subject.  This is why zooming out is so important.

Getting a different view or lens on what’s right in front of you.  That’s also why we talk to our friends and family, and listen to that inspiring podcast or read that book, take a class, go to a therapist or healer, travel to another place and culture, do spiritual practices, spend time in nature, with animals….

We need one another and this world around us, to help us see ourselves and the world we live in, from another angle. We need to get out of our own way sometimes, to let the light back in, especially when we find ourselves focused on the shadows.

Another piece of this summer’s astrology involves a shift that invites us into more self-care, bringing more nurturing to ourselves and our loved ones (this can include the whole planet too!).  This is a year-long transit of the planet, Jupiter, going into the nurturing, home-oriented sign of Cancer, that officially starts June 9th.

I think this is such a wonderful complement to all the other speedy, exciting yet disruptive, and at times chaotic, energy of some of the other transits that are heightened this year.

What’s the takeaway here? Get ready for things to pick up speed even more, yes! No doubt about it. So, buckle up! Or one could also say, grab your surfboard!  And too, it’s essential to make time for slowing down. Make time for nurturing - fill yourself up with what makes you feel good, brings peace to your heart, joy in simple moments, and… take care of your body.
