What is Hypnotherapy?
Asking the question, “What do you want to begin to change today?” is how hypnotherapy sessions begin. Hypnotherapy is an evidence-based process that helps you tap into your inner resources and work with your unconscious mind to foster self-trust and promote rapid healing. It can include a range of modalities—such as relaxation techniques, breathwork, visualization, and tools from psychology and neuroscience. Because the unconscious mind continuously shapes how we perceive the world, transformation happens more easily when we learn how to work with it and our inner wisdom.
What is Hypnotherapy good for?
Hypnotherapy does not diagnose or treat medical conditions, but it is a powerful tool for changing habits. These include how we think, react, ruminate, hold tension or pain in the body, and the limiting beliefs we may operate from. Hypnotherapy can also be helpful for managing chronic or acute pain and for preparation for surgery or healing afterwards.
Hypnotherapy can support:
Women experiencing burnout, pelvic pain, or symptoms of perimenopause or menopause
Caregivers and caregiving professionals seeking grounding and resilience
People who feel stuck or overwhelmed
Those suffering from phobias who are looking for fast relief
People dealing with addictive behaviors
Weight loss
Smoking cessation
Career challenges and work stressors
Children and teens often respond especially well to hypnosis. It can help address:
Anxiety and phobias
Attention and focus challenges
Bed-wetting
Fixations and obsessive behaviors
Habits like nail biting, hair pulling/chewing, or thumb sucking
Sibling conflict
Sleep issues such as nightmares, insomnia, or trouble falling asleep
Stomachaches and migraines
Sports or performance anxiety
What can I expect from a session or a series of sessions? What do I need to do to
prepare for it?
Start by scheduling a free 15-minute phone consultation to explore whether hypnotherapy is a good fit for you. If booking for a child or teen, caregivers are required to schedule a consultation first.
No other special preparation is needed—just bring curiosity.
Sessions begin with a conversation about the changes you want to make and the benefits those changes will bring. From there, we use deep relaxation and hypnosis techniques to help you access your unconscious mind and begin shifting patterns. Before you leave, you’ll learn simple tools to support continued change.
Sessions for children look a little different. These sessions begin by building trust through playful interaction, which is also a powerful tool for change. Since children’s unconscious minds are closely tied to their imaginations, they often respond quickly to hypnosis. Sessions for children under age 7 can be shorter and can be very effective. Caregivers may be as involved as feels appropriate for all parties.
Most clients of all ages benefit from 3–8 sessions. Practicing the tools you learned for just five minutes a day can significantly enhance results.
Talia Miller offers hypnotherapy at CLINIC Saturdays 9am- 1pm and Sundays 1- 5pm.
